The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Office of Civil Rights is responsible for civil rights compliance and monitoring, which includes ensuring that providers of public transportation property abide by Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Executive Order 12898, and the Department of Transportation’s Guidance to Recipients on Special Language Services to Limited English Proficient (LEP) Beneficiaries.
Fellowship House’s Transportation Department strictly upholds the policy that no individual is denied services or discriminated against based on color, sex, race, ethnicity, religion, national origin, gender identity, sexual orientation, marital status or genetic information. Fellowship House also provides appropriate auxiliary aids to members or potential members with disabilities or limited English proficiency as requested.
Any person who believes she or he has been discriminated on the basis of race, color, or national origin by Fellowship House Transportation Services may file a complaint by completing the Title VI Civil Rights Complaint Form. This Form can be located on our website and submitted either to Fellowship House’s Title VI Coordinator or Transportation and Facilities Manager.
All complaints will be investigated by either the Title VI Coordinator or the Transportation and Facilities Manager. If more information is needed to resolve the complaint, Fellowship House may contact the complainant. The complainant has 10 business days from the date of the letter to send requested information to the investigator assigned to the case. If the investigator is not contacted by the complainant or does not receive the additional information within 10 business days, Fellowship House can administratively close the case. A case can be administratively closed also if the complainant no longer wishes to pursue their case.
After the investigator reviews the complaint, the Title VI Coordinator will issue one of two letters to the complainant: a closure letter or a letter of finding (LOF). A closure letter summarizes the allegations and states that there was not a Title VI violation and that the case will be closed. An LOF summarizes the allegations and whether the staff person was addressed, additional training was provided or other action will occur. If the complainant wishes to appeal the decision, she/he has seven (7) days to do so from the time he/ she receives the closure letter or the LOF.
A person may also file a complaint directly with the Federal Transit Administration, at FTA Office of Civil Rights, 1200 New Jersey Avenue SE, Washington, DC 20590.
